What Is "The Witches of Macbeth?"

Updated: Nov 24, 2025

The Witches of Macbeth is a daring reimagination of Shakespeare's classic tragedy about ambition, murder, and the supernatural.

Three immortal witches, servants of the ancient goddess Inanna, bewitch a member of the audience and lead him to re-enact the terrible fate of Macbeth, raising him up to the heights of power only to have his own flaws drive him to his terrible end.

This tight, 80-minute cutting uses only four actors to tell the tale of the Scottish king, allowing the performers to display their powers of transformation to the utmost.

In addition to Shakespeare's text, we incorporate passages from "Inanna's Descent Into the Underworld," a 4000-year-old epic poem that shines new light on the themes of power, intrigue, and the unwavering hand of fate.

This is theatre at its most primal and intimate — a celebration of the actor's power to bring stories to life in the hearts and minds of the audience.

You won't soon forget this stunning production that is at once ancient and surprisingly modern.
